'Naïve' indenting in the IDE

I think Corman Lisp is great, which is why I'm using it for my "killer
app." However, I need some sort of Lisp editing solution that (a) allows
interaction with the REPL, and (b) indents my Lisp source properly, where
"properly" is defined as "how Emacs does it when told to use the
common-lisp-indent-function." I've found syntax colouring pretty
habit-forming, as well.

Given that I can't get XEmacs+ILISP to work with CCL (and I haven't seen
any reports of anyone else getting it to work either), I'm currently saving
my file in XEmacs and (load "...") it in Roger's IDE, and cutting and
pasting bits of text back and forth, which is definitely not the Right Thing.

Seeing that others (i.e. Reini Urban) have hacked on this and apparently
run out of steam, I'm somewhat loathe to get too embroiled in ILISP & Elisp
myself, so I thought I would ask the list first:

- what do people currently use to edit their Lisp source when developing
with/for Corman Lisp? If you use the IDE, does the lack of "proper"
indenting etc. really bug you?

- has anyone managed to get (X)Emacs + ILISP + CCL working? If so, how?
(Luke, how did you get on?)

- would anyone else really, really like Roger to add better indenting to
the IDE?

Failing that, I'm considering trying to port ELI, after reading this:
http://lemonodor.com/archives/000461.html#000461 (but I suspect it would
mean porting the sb-aclrepl as well).

I don't mean to criticise ILISP or Mr. Urban or anything; I'm just trying
to see what my options are here.

Cheers,

John :^P
