Just to answer my question, what I wanted was something like this:

? (with-simple-query (var value)
      (retrieve (?x) (?x (hobbit (name ?name))))
        (format t "~&Found: ~A ~D~%"
           (hobbit-name value)
           (hobbit-age value)))
;Compiler warnings :

I was forgetting that it was returning CLOS classes, and that I had  
to extract the data.
