Couple of LW releases ago ASDF was not supported by the System Browser tool in LW IDE. Now it is not the case, and we can browse ASDF systems in a System Browser as well (and preview execution plans etc). I have not found reasons to use LW's own defsystem considering LW now ships with ASDF even for LW-only projects.
