PROBLEMS MANDRAKE 8.0 INSTALLATION

Hi,

I am attempting to install lush-0.97.1 on a Pentium PC
having Mandrake Linux 8.0. The ./configure command
creates the “scr/Makefile”, “include/lushmake.h” and
“include/lushconf.h”. On typing “make install”, I get
the error message:

“make[1]***No rule to make target
‘/usr/include/symcat.h’, needed by by ‘dldbfd.o’.
Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory ‘usr/local/lush/src’
make: *** [all] Error 2”

This message occurs after “gcc
–DHAVE_CONFIG_H**************** -pthread –c unix.c”
appears on the terminal console on inputting “make
install”.

On reading the file “configure.ac”, a message
indicates that the binutils files cannot be found and
suggests that the “libbinutils-devel” package be
installed fm the source CD. HOWEVER, BOTH packages:
“libbinutils2 v2.10.1.0.2-4mdk” and
“libbinutils2-devel v2.10.1.0.2-4mdk” ALREADY EXIST.
In fact I even reloaded them from the source CD and
got the identical result.

Is there a problem with the version of the libbinutils
files, because lush-0.97.1 is tested with a later
version of the binutils files? Is there any other
problem that occurs?

Could someone PLEASE help me out with some
suggestions.

Regards

Peter
