question about a macivory error

    Goodmorning all...     

    I have a quick question.  I have a feeling the problem must be something
    rather simple but in any case please forgive my ignorance.

    whenever I try to edit namespace Objects (say for instance to add a
    network) I always get 


    Error: :AUTHOR is not a changeable property in the Macintosh file system.
    for: HOST:Mac O/S 7.6:System
    Folder:Ivory:Namespace:standalone-objects.temp

The error message is just telling you that the underlying filesystem
doesn't allow setting the Author property (it has no where to put it).

I don't think having namespace files on the Mac side of a MacIvory
was ever a supported configuration.  The namespace relies on having
a version numbered file system.

That said, you can probably get away with simple uses by editing the
source code to not set the author property.

    while the status bar shows the system to be accessing the
    standalone-objects.text file.
    I am completely ignorant about lispm maintenance troubleshooting etc, so
    any suggestions would be very welcome.

    incidentally a (si:login-to-sys-host) returns Nil

I believe it generally does and this has no significance.

    ps.  while I'm writing, it occurs to me to ask if anyone has an extra
    symbolics keyboard lying around?
