Breakage with v 299

I just realized that v 299 has introduced a path structure instead of the plain strings that version <= 208 used for paths.  This is definitely going to produce breakage on WordUp!, I don't know how many other Schematics projects will be affected.  Also, this is going to cause some of the cookbook recipes to become out of date.  Any thoughts about impact, esp in the cookbook?  Do we need to keep backwards compatible sections or just try to stay up to date with the latest version of PLT?
