I've just added a field to the registration form at: http://schemecookbook.org/TWiki/TWikiRegistration Directly above the form I've added a note which reads: "NOTE: The field named "Prog. Language" is intended to thwart wiki spammers. In this field, simply enter the name of the programming language which the Cookbook deals with." The field in the form will accept "scheme" or "erlang", case-insensitive. If anything else is entered, the registration will not succeed and an explanatory page will be displayed. I've run multiple tests to ensure that it works correctly. This ought to prevent any purely automated spammers from registering. If we get more spam registrations, we'll at least know that they've paid some attention to the Cookbook specifically, as opposed to using a generic TWiki-spamming script. I'm hoping this is clear and easy enough so as not to discourage anyone legitimate from registering. Objections & suggestions for improvements are welcome.
