FYI, if I recollect, it was always our plan to eventually alter usql
to be able to use the CLSQL backends, and then we could remove the
backends from usql altogether.  Of course, nothing is quite that
simple...

Well, if someone is able to take it over, that would involve I guess
also taking over ODCL.  You could integrate that package into USQL or
continue to maintain it as a separate utility package -- whatever
makes sense.
