I should clarify about "ready to go". I've put the files in the right
place, renamed the packages to fit the CLSQL scheme, and wrote an .asd
file for loading. Just the CMUCL FFI code needs to be ported to
FFI. But, I've never tested the code. Your initial impression is
right.

That was just added in 1.2 for connections pool -- the initial code
was by Doug Crosher to support SCL and I generalized it for ACL and
LW. I haven't tested it. Without a full review, I wouldn't call CLSQL
thread safe, but CLSQL is likely close to that.

The next things that I'll be adding to CLSQL, besides DB2 support, is
table locking, parameterized SQL queries, and perhaps reworking of
transactions. Right now that work is occurring under contract, I hope
that the institution will allow me to release those changes as
open-source.

That'd be great if USQL one day supported CLSQL as a backend. As I
wrote before, I've done work in separting out a CLSQL-BASE package
designed for such a purpose.
