Interesting comment about running in and Administrator Command prompt. I have been able to run BLAT in a non-administrator command prompt by adding “-hkcu” to the “ -install” command. Is it correct if you run in an Administrator prompt you don’t need the “-hkcu” attribute, and wouldn’t need to even run -install each time BLAT is run. Interesting to note there is nothing in the help file about “-hkcu”, I think Chip provided that tip when Windows 8 first came out. Any thoughts. Thanks.

I also keep blat in its own folder, c:\blat in my case, and have also run into the -install issues you mentioned. So, no issues that I can see. :)

Windows 8 did introduce some additional security restrictions, but I've
found the simplest fix is to make sure blat is not in a system folder. I
put it into C:\batches, with the batches that typically call it, and
this requires no registry hacks nor Administrator priviledge for the
batches nor blat. The only issue which I've seen is occasionally I have
to set the -install config from an admin-level command window.
