Ok, I archived and moved my ~/Mail directory. I then installed courier-mta for the sole purpose of using the maildirmake utility, and used it to make ~/mail. I then deleted the .cone directory and ran cone. after a minimal configuration, I sent myself an email, and guess what? it saved the email to the right directory, but it used the mbox format! Why won't it save to maildir? This is exactly what it was doing when I still had my ~/Mail directory created by kmail.
