What version are you installing?  Download v1.2 from
inter7.com/eps.  If you already did, download it again.
There were some posting problems with the new tarball.

Get inter7.com/eps/eps-1.2.tar.gz
and inter7.com/eps/epstools-1.4.tar.gz

Compile and install EPS v1.2, and then compile the sample code
from epstools v1.4.
