Not when the "redirect router" option is set.

Feel free to use something that is not possible in your usernames.
Eg. a colon.

No, not if it is done the way you are suggesting (an ignore flag for
dup-checking).
That would increase the testing matrix far too much for what is an edge-case
RFE.

Also, we don't currently deal in "pull requests".
