Turns out that this issue should be reopened. There is a bug in opendmarc ( https://github.com/trusteddomainproject/OpenDMARC/issues/54 ) indeed and there is a recent fix for that in the works ( https://github.com/thegushi/OpenDMARC/tree/fix/issue-54-subdomain-fallback ).
