The cPanel report (page 2 https://support.cpanel.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/40933411617559-Message-from-host-google-com-sometimes-duplicate-delivery-with-same-Message-ID-Exim?page=2#comments ) suggests that people have been able to resolve this by exempting google hosts from some host checks. This makes me think gmail is not waiting "long enough" for a reply from exim ...
