Since I started this thread by reporting my installation problems, I'll 
chime in again here.

How am I taking what you have written out of context?

You have clear instructions showing configurations using the DATA ACL 
and the MIME ACL.  The DATA ACL includes the demime = * instruction 
whereas the instruction on using the MIME ACL does not, and that is how 
I had it set up with the MIME ACL, and it did not work, as reported.  I 
can see no other distinction between the 2 approaches.

Or have I missed something?

Once this is clarified I would like to be able to give you the Debian 
related specifics of setting this up for inclusion in your howto, (in 
addition to your already included RPM distro related stuff), if you are 
interested.  I'm sure that would be appreciated by other Debian users 
struggling with it all.
