Hello everybody!

I'm happy you're all still alive. :-) Wow.

Looks like there's a lot of potential. Now I think we neeed 3 things to
get (re-)organized:

- Mailing list
- Wiki
- Version control system

All of the above exist, but there's room for improvement. One main point
is what happens in case of emergency (crash). So the very first thing we
really need is for Alan to agree to delegate some tasks to have more
than one person responsible. I don't think it helps to have multiple
people (motivated as they may be) running off in different directions to
start different "organizational forks". Let's think this through together.

Here's what I could offer:

a) Moving the mailing list (including all archives we can find) over to
a university's mailing-list server. This would have the benefit of Spam
scanning and automated backup. This server hosts mailing lists for one
of Germany's largest universities, is professionally supported and here
to stay.

b) Setting up Foswiki (or TWiki). Very stable. Revision control for all
topics. Database-free (everything is stored in files => a restore in
case of a "crash" is easy; no more fear of "database gone".)

So much for now, Robert
