Anyways, I tried the syntax and that one gave me some errors of course:

mysql> GRANT ALL ON vexim.* TO www-data@localhost IDENTIFIED BY 'thebigsecret';
ERROR 1064 (42000): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '-data@localhost IDENTIFIED BY 'thebigsecret'' at line 1
