My *assumption* was that whoever added the Msg window just didn't add it to 
the list of windows to be remembered.

I clicked the "Quit" button on the "main" window.
I take that as the "correct" way to close things down, and thus should save 
window positions.

Sorry -- two separate points:

1) on a clean close, the Msg window size and position is not remembered

2) If the Msg window is (WM) "Close"d, all hell breaks loose.

If you don't get the "exmh completely falls apart of the user closes the Msg 
window using the WM", I'd suggest disabling the "separate Msg window" option.
