No, the -si:localhost:$USER takes *away* that entry - to *add* an entry the
syntax is 'xhost +si:localhost:$USER'.  My xhost output looked the same
as yours when I had the problem. Now it just says:

% xhost
access control enabled, only authorized clients can connect
% 

(Note the *single* line of output now - careful reading of the Tk source
code reveals that the test Tk makes is, basically, "walk the same access
list as xhost does while printing it, and if xhost would list something
other than 'access control enabled', Tk complains".
