OK, I know a little more than I did before.
Again, everyhing works fine on fc6, but when I go to f9 I have problems.
If I read a mail message under f9 with a graphic (gif or jpeg), and there is no
.mailcap file, the jpeg gets displayed in the upper left of a BIG FireFox
window,
lots of white space covering the rest of the screen. Doing the same under
fc6 gave a small xv window, just large enough to contain the graphic, located
in the upper left of the screen.
Valdis Kletnieks pointed a the .mailcap file as a possible problem, and it is
at least related.
So I tried the following experiments on f9.
Without the .mailcap file I get the graphic in a BIG Firefox window, lots of
white space covering the rest of the screen. With a .mailcap file containing
image/gif; /usr/X11R6/bin/xv %s ";
image/jpeg; /usr/X11R6/bin/xv "%s";
There are some messages that go by in the EXMH status(?) window, but they
go by too fast to read, and there is NO graphic.
My assumption is that there is some OTHER program/script that is missing
in f9 that I need to go down the xv path,- any guesses at what it might be?
