So what does the "file" command say when you run it on a PDF?  It looks
like exmh uses whatever "file" thinks it is along with a mapping table
to decide what MIME type to use.  Although maybe something else is going
on there, because it doesn't look like exmh 2.8.0 out of the box is
going to use application/x-msword.
