IMAP doesn't really have a well-defined concept of a poll. Probably the provider has a limit on the login rate, in which case you might actually be better-off with multiple IDLE connections. BTW I would recommend that you don't use Yahoo to post to mailing lists. Their DMARC reject policy means that a lot of people wont receive your mail through the list. I had to get a copy from gmane.org as gmail rejected it.
