Unfortunately, I did not get your name or e-mail address, but thanks for 
the heads up on IMAP NOTIFY. I'll check it out.

Given that the small business has not many users, multiple IDLE 
connections are indeed an option. The trouble is the administrative 
overhead. I would need to write additional scripts to keep several 
instances of getmail/fetchmail running.

But maybe getmail's author is willing to help? Unfortunately, my 
scripting skills do not extend much further beyond Bash and Perl.

This is not an easy subject.

It is true that Yahoo has issues. But changing e-mail addresses is not 
so easy, after so many years. Besides, Yahoo gives me throw-away 
addresses like this one I am using now, and there is no direct 
indication of which e-mail address is the main one (unlike with Gmail).

Additional e-mail accounts are more work for me. There is also the 
political drive of resisting the Google monopoly. In fact, I suspect 
that Google's motivation for rejecting such e-mails is its strive for 
world domination. Choosing another e-mail provider which Google may 
still tolerate is not so easy anymore, for they all have issues, 
especially regarding your privacy.

I am not an expert in the field of e-mail and mailing lists, but I do 
not understand why one my have problems receiving e-mails from this 
mailing list. After all, I send my e-mails to the mailing list bot, 
which is the one actually forwarding those messages to all subscribers. 
Therefore, it should not actually matter where the original e-mail came 
from.
