Idea: in addition to

       -a, --all
              retrieve all messages

       -n, --new
              retrieve only unread messages

add

       --limit n or --max n
              retrieve only n messages

Great for seeing if getmail works but not downloading the whole mailbox yet.

P.S., perhaps say
       -a, --all
              retrieve all messages (default)

if indeed that is the case.
