It is likely a consequence of RedHat's policy to keep everything binary
compatible within releases of their Enterprise Linux. This sort of thing
shows up frequently in RHEL/CentOS environments with the reported versions
of tools appearing ancient, but the reality upon investigation of the RPM
changelog is they've been patching to address bugs and security flaws while
maintaining binary compatibility. The system I provided the above report
from is maintained at the current patch level, so the report provides a
sense of the environment getmail runs in for your RHEL/CentOS users.
