Interesting. Could you please update to the current version (5.13) and see if
you still have this problem?
Running getmail from source is very easy, by the way. You don't even have to
install it if you just run it from the unpacked source directory ("./getmail
[options]").
That works. I think I'll leave things as they are and run getmail from
source as you describe rather than installing it.
