synchronizing deletions in getmail

Forgive the naive question, but getmail seems to simply download mail from
a specific IMAP folder, and that's it. But sometimes in mutt I might want
to delete a particular email in my inbox, but have that deletion reflected
in my imap folder (just in case I have to check email on my phone or
whatever).

Is this possible with getmail?
