Unreadable Messages Downloaded

I just started using 'getmail' for a new project I'm working on and was enjoying the new experience until this happened:
Problem: Emails sent from our IBM I computer using a 3rd party email utility called MMAIL are unreadable after 'getmail' downloads them.  The Subject, Sender and body appear to be untranslated to ascii.

They look like this:

Any idea what may be causing this?  Or what I can do to fix it?
I tried using 'fetchmail', but I couldn't get it to work.
