As the designer of getmail, I can tell you that your absolute statement is incorrect. There are situations in which getmail feeding an MTA is appropriate. But when doing so, I consider it essential to stop that MTA from processing any such message in a way that results in it (or a bounce message) leaving the machine via SMTP -- typically by delivering only to a local MDA, and by force-setting the envelope sender to the empty/null sender (so no bounces are generated at all) or to a locally-controlled address > IMO you should stop volunteering what you do as an example of how to use > getmail.
