Running a server that talks to other mailservers on the 'net *requires* you to be a good netizen. You *need* to know what you're doing, including understanding that best practices exist for a reason and must not be broken without a damned good understanding of the situation. You need to acknowledge that every time you break best practices or misconfigure software or, or, or, ... you are creating needless extra work for other mail administrators on the 'net, and that is a *decidedly* antisocial thing to do. Please do take me seriously on this.
