POP3 UTF-8 support

Hello,

I'm using getmail to download mail via pop3 to an ubuntu box. I usually get
mail daemon errors like this:

This E-mail message was determined to be Unicode-formatted
but your E-mail reader does not support Unicode E-mail.

Please use an E-mail reader that supports POP3 with UTF-8
(see https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6856.html).
----------

After reading that RFC I was wondering if getmail supports UTF8 POP3
extension?
I think it doesn't because otherwise the message would get through.
