The server you're connecting to is refusing to serve it to getmail, for unknown reasons. If I had to guess, I would say it seems to expect the client to issue the "UTF8" command from RFC6856, which is not an accepted standard. The server is broken. Report the problem to the postmaster of the server. Do you happen to know if it's a "Plesk" system?
