getmail was packaged for Debian for many years.  It was removed recently
because they decided to remove all packages using Python 2.x.  It's kind of a
silly decision, because Python 2.x will continue working just fine for a long
time yet, and there are no security implications about it for getmail, so they
could have just kept shipping getmail.

But they chose not to.  /shrug
