Dear Colleagues, Until the tines of the fork reach an agreement on the issues of naming and software quality (or forever, should no agreement ever be reached), I believe that some of the troubles of the fork can be avoided through an easier and less controversial approach. This approach requires a small amount of work on getmail6 and no new work on getmail. So long as Roland & al. will continue to maintain a fork named "getmail6", I propose they adjust getmail6 to encourage getmail6 users to convene in the correct venues. I believe that this can be accomplished with relatively little work for Roland & al. and will save trouble for everyone, most importantly for Charles; if getmail6 users can be directed to the correct discussion venues, or at least if they avoid accidentally using getmail support, then we will avoid the confusion that prompted the present thread. This approach could be realized through a message to the following effect in beginning of the getmail6 help text, in the beginning of other documentation, and in the beginning of error messages. This is getmail6. Please report issues here. https://github.com/getmail6/getmail6/issues Full documentation is here. https://getmail6.org/documentation.html Other techniques are possible; Roland & al. could try a few techniques and interview people to see what works. I pray that the Honorable Charles Cazabon and Mr Roland Puntaier have faith in my best sentiments. Thomas
