That's pretty old.  In general, I'd recommend you update to the latest 5.16.
However, that alone won't fix this problem (I think).

Not sure what clara is.  clara.net?

Anyway, I think you're running into an issue another user reported, which
appeared to be an interesting new "feature" of some POP/IMAP server software.

I tested a bit and posted a one-line patch for that user to try, but he did
not post his results.

Can you apply that patch to your local copy, and let us know if it solves the
problem for you?  If it does, I will add this hack-fix into the next version
of getmail.

By the way, that was quite the sample email :)
