Since Jay is apparently a support person at spectrum.net, I would suspect h=
e is probably qualified to advise you as to which mail server you should po=
int your mail client at. The fact that you're getting an invalid user name =
or password error when you query mail.spectrum.net means that you need to w=
ork with spectrum.net support to verify your username and/or reset your pas=
sword.

It seems entirely possible that the server supporting spectrum.net has an I=
MAP/POP server running *and* has an account for you with the credentials yo=
u are using. If that is so, you are demonstrating that that server doesn't =
have any mail for you, probably because it is now being delivered to mail.s=
pectrum.net. Maybe this is a holdover from a prior configuration at spectru=
m, who knows, but now it seems they want you to use mail.spectrum.net.
I hope these comments help to encourage you to go back to spectrum.net supp=
ort to validate your username/password now that you have the correct syntax=
in your getmail config. You seem to be only inches away from a functional =
configuration, just needing to get the credentials sorted out. Good luck!
