Well.. because the address I subscribed under isn't the address I'm
uing now. It was supposed to die last week and could stop working any
day, so I can't be bothered going through all the hassle of changing my
config back just so I can send an unsub message from the 'right' address.

I'll probably drop off this list in a few days.

I guess I could see email getting replaced; but it'd be a parallel system
for a long while and mostly I just don't see the point. Spammers are
starting to use web proxies and worms because SMTP is already too easy to
trace. They get traced, they get TOSsed, they have to open a new account..
it costs them money! That's where they hurt. Let's keep hitting them that
way..

If their TOS (and actual behaviour) doesn't meet the requirements to be
considered a spammer-hostile ISP, they're left out with all the other
'spam-friendly' ISPs. no whitelisting amongst the spammer-hostile ISP's,
no recognition amongst the blacklist organisers, no 'ham-bonus' in
the default SpamAssassin configs, etc..

That's my point; a spammer can specifically set up their OWN
spam-friendly ISP if they want (I know.. they already do..).
and they'll still be at the same disadvantage.
