After the 1.1 release of the NGMP prototype, I took a little hiatus to move into a new house and find a job. Both of these things have now been accomplished, so it's time to look ahead to version 1.2. The main feature I'm going to integrate for 1.2 is SMTP fallback. I've made some preliminary steps towards this goal already, and it is looking promising. This feature is, in my mind, the chief appeal of the NGMP scheme, because it makes near-term adoption a real possibility. I am hoping that once this feature is in place, interest in NGMP will pick up and others will start modifying some clients (Jabber and/or email) to add advanced NGMP support, and just generally start thinking and coding new ideas and new features. I also would really love to have some more hands in the protocol wiki. :) As always, if there are features you'd like to see or suggestions, feel free to email me, or better yet, start a new Wiki page at http://ngmp.libretech.org/NgmpWiki/ and tell me about it so I can link to it from the main NGMP page. OK, that's all I've got for now. Wes Morgan
