There are lots of ways to debug a server misbehaving.

With daemontools, check the readproctitle log, check that the
svscanboot/supervise processes are up properly, check the log
supervise process, if all looks well down the service, attach to the
supervise for imap with strace -fFp and then from another terminal up
the service and check the strace output to see which system calls go
awry and cause the service not to work properly.
