We've used UW-IMAP on FreeBSD and SLES for years now and have migrated from mbox (a couple of users) to mbx (100 users) and then on to mix (100 users again). We're not a big site by any means. mix is great. A big improvement on mbx and so far from mbox it's hard to describe. mix is also easy to fully backup and/or do incrementals. I did some testing with maildir and while the IMAP performance was OK the backups were a pain. We have users here with 10s of GBs of email and thousands of messages in a folder so we like indices. We use Thunderbird as a mail client BTW and have played with the IMAP client in Android. YMMV Guy -- -------------------------------------------------------------------- Guy Dawson I.T.
