Hi Dave Thanks for this response. Your suggestion has got rid of the protocol error message. However my email client is still not authenticating and now there aren't any messages in any of the logs to help identify the problem. I've tried starting slapd with various debug settings (-d x) and I can see that the JAMM schema is being called up and the details I entered for the account are visible, including the password. However, I don't understand enough of what the debug screen is showing to be able to progress any further. Any more help you can give will be gratefully accepted. Regards Richard. **************************************************** Richard Williams email: [email protected] **************************************************** -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dave Dribin Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 5:40 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Jamm-users] ldap_simple_bind_s failed protocol error On Wed, Apr 14, 2004 at 04:37:32PM +0100, Richard Williams wrote: > Hi > > > > I've followed the Virtual Mailserver HOWTO, logged on to Jamm and set up a > virtual domain and a couple of users. Hi Richard, Try putting this in your slapd.conf: allow bind_v2 Newer versions of OpenLDAP only accept v3 by default. -Dave ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies.
