Boy, its been awhile since I've looked at that connection code, but I'm
going to say "no."  Okay, I just checked the code and I can confirm "no."
We have "ldap://" hard coded for the connection URL.

Its probably something that someone should revisit.  My typical use of it is
talking to localhost, so there isn't much value in the ssl overhead.
