What happens to mail to Postmaster?

Hi Now that I've got Jamm etc. working, I've tried sending mail to postmaster@my_virtual_site. I've ticked the Postmaster box on one of the users. However it doesn't appear as if postmaster has a maildrop and so the mail 'disappears' even though it is accepted by postfix. What is supposed to happen to mail addressed to postmaster? (Other aliases I set up work fine).
