Courier-imap not connecting

I am unable to authenticate via either Squirrelmail or Pine.

I've got Jamm working as far as being able to create virtual domains &
users. I have sent a test message to such a user and Postfix correctly
creates the file in /home/vmail/domains.

I have set the domain name to hosting.example just to make sure
everything works according to the Howto.

This is what I get in the ldap.log after an unsuccessful login attempt
via Squirellmail..

May 2 18:52:36 jamm slapd[1496]: conn=22 fd=12 ACCEPT from
