Q on what happens after failure..

I've gone forward with setting up Dspam 
(http://www.nuclearelephant.com/projects/dspam), using it in an amavis 
like capacity having postfix drop to it like a content filter.  I'm 
hitting a snag now and I'm curious if anyone here can help me, or if I 
should go hound the dspam and postfix list but since this group deals 
with LDAP/JAMM methods I figure the behavior might be understood.

In jamm we run domain1, I have a pipe alias not in jamm/ldap that is 
sitting in a hashed aliases file, but will be used in conjunction with 
domain1.

ldap:

joe@domain1

aliases:  spam-joe	"|feed dspam spam from domain"

I expected a pass through, domain1 in ldap puts out the user doesnt 
exist and postfix moves on to the next user/alias search and will see 
that spam-joe does.   This doesnt happen though, when ldap returns no 
user/noalias for what it knows to be domain1, postfix doesnt even try to 
look elsewhere, it just breaks and bounces back.

Is that the right behavior?

I don't want to add pipe aliases to ldap since what will eventually 
happen is regexp replacement in the alias file so I don't need to create 
a spam address for everyone in the ldap database.

I might be throwing a curve here, but I could use a bonk of the 
cluestick to help realign.
