M does not build with gcc <4.x

Hello,
trying to build Mahogany with gcc 3.4.6 but it fail with:
cc1: error: unrecognized command line option "-Wno-pointer-sign"
This option is valid only for gcc 4.x. After removing lines:
if test "$GCC" = "yes"; then
IMAP_CPPFLAGS="$IMAP_CPPFLAGS -Wno-pointer-sign"
fi
from configure script, the compilation is successfull.
