space bar

Is any functionality assigned to the space bar when focus has been given to a message? If not, I think it should continue to function as a "scroll down" bar. (Currently it does not.) Related query: if one tabs out of a message, focus is given to the folder tree. Wouldn't it be more natural to give focus to the message view? (I almost always find myself tabbing twice.)
