We encountered this error recently, whilst testing the maximum length of the "To:" field, (we were making some configuration changes). When we entered a "To:" field that was deliberately too long, we sometimes received the bounced email with the error you've encountered. Specifically, in our tests the To: field was: "a very long quoted part ..... ie: more 200 chars" <[email protected]> Perhaps this, (or something like it), is corrupting the From: field in your case.
