Regrettably, the web-based MUA provided by my ISP, after ceasing to

accept smtp from users, is rather deficient, not least in that regard.

(It's a PITA to use too.) Still, mutt can thread on subject, so that still works.

The world keeps changing, and it's not getting any better.
